Ambien “Sleep Driving” Concerns
Sanofi-Aventis is the third largest drug company in the world, raking in well over 2 billion dollars in sales this year alone in a recession. Sanofi-Aventis manufactures Ambien, a sleeping medication used to treat insomnia. Its likely you have heard of it, over 26 million prescriptions for the drug were written last year alone. New reports indicate that ambiens new found popularity could be contributing to a large increase in accidents on the road.
Blood samples from 230o impaired drivers from Wisconsin were drawn and tested. The results showed that 53 of the most erratic drivers all had one thing in common- they all had Ambien in their blood. A forensic toxicologist said these drivers wouldent have had any ambien in their blood if they took the medication correctly, and the fact that they DID have ambien traces in their blood means people are not taking the correct dosages.
This could be abusing the medications by taking to much, or taking the medication without sleeping the entire 8 hours required when on this drug. Some ambien impaired drivers were picked up driving on the wrong side of the road, head on collisions, crashing into parked vehicles – all while asleep.
The interviews after the drugs wear off are very similar; “I woke up in a cell with no memory of what happened”. Its very similar to driving drunk, you arent fully conscious and you dont much attention to what your doing. Sanofi-Aventis stated to ”use caution in the morning when engaging in activities requiring complete alertness until you know how you will react to this medication.” These occurances of “sleep driving” ONLY occur when you take ambien with alcohol, or dont complete your required 8 hours of sleep.
While ambien helps millions of people sleep every night who otherwise would be tormented by insomnia, its important to recognize this drug is designed to give 8 full hours of sleep. Do not buy ambien online, or buy ambien without a prescription if you cannot dedicate 8 hours per night to sleeping.
